The Workshops

I have created the following workshops focusing on my areas of specialty. I am available to present these workshops with your studio, or for your organization. Contact me about availability and pricing.

1. The Technical Toolbox

(can be geared towards youth to adult age ranges)

This singing workshop introduces the hands-on elements of my technical toolbox and how to use them to improve vocal technique through a variety of exercises and within repertoire.

  • The Birmingham Conservatory, Stratford, ON, 2017-current

  • Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, ON, 2017-current

2. Singing Fundamentals

(can be geared towards any age range)

This singing workshop gives students the tools to establish foundational singing concepts such clear tone, warm up and cool down exercises, exploring the emotional vowel and the expressive consonant, breathing, performance strategies, and developing a good concept of voice care. Through the workshop my goal is to help students build confidence in their singing voices.

  • The Birmingham Conservatory at the Stratford Festival, Stratford, ON, 2017-current

  • Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, ON, 2017-current

  • ORMTA Provincial Competition Workshops, Oakville, ON, 2024

3. Contemporary Vocal Techniques:

A Cross-over Approach

(ages 16 and older)

In these workshops I work with students to apply CCM (contemporary commercial music) vocal techniques to excerpts of musical theatre and classical repertoire. Through this work we discover cross-over applications related to vocal technique, musicality, rhythm, and interpretation, and explore the benefits of cross-training between contemporary and classical genres.

  • Opera NUOVA, Edmonton, AB, 2023

  • Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, ON, 2023, 2024

4. Out of your Head and into the Story

(ages 15 and older)

This acting and singing workshop explores theatre games, movement work and acting techniques. Singing with an acting intention and target will take the singer out of analysis paralysis and into vocal freedom while having fun along the way.
